Introduction

Chemicals are the original core business of the Company.

Henry Higginbottom started in the business of Raw Chemicals, Metals, Minerals and General Merchants and Shippers in the 1880's. Since then, the company has changed hands only once and is still owned by members of one of the families who acquired it in the late 1950's.

In the last thirty years, the main activity of the business has been as Chemical Merchants and as an importer of Industrial Charcoal into the UK and Europe.

The company is one of the founder members of BCDTA (The British Chemical Distributors and Traders Association) when it was formed in 1952.

We comply to the requirements of the BCDTA Responsible Care Programme.
